Revolutionizing Carbon Mapping at Dropia Wines

At CO2 Angels, we're transforming the way soil health is measured. Our AI model was applied on a parcel of about 250 hectares at Dropia Wines, a renowned vineyard in south-eastern Romania, showing how the product performs in real farm conditions.

Our breakthrough

We built an AI model that maps soil organic carbon at 30 m resolution. Using remote-sensing data and targeted soil samples, the initial SOC error of 3.74 g/kg was reduced to just 0.46 g/kg after local refinement, an eightfold improvement.

How it works

  • Smart data collection: the model combines multispectral satellite imagery, terrain features, climate layers, and historical SOC measurements.
  • Local calibration: targeted local data helps capture the real variability of the parcel.
  • High-resolution mapping: the resulting 30 m map highlights where interventions like organic matter additions or irrigation adjustments matter most.

Why it matters

  • Cost and efficiency gains: even a 1% increase in SOC can reduce input costs through better water retention and nutrient handling.
  • Targeted farm management: precise SOC maps make treatments more focused and can improve yields.
  • More sustainable practice: fewer unnecessary inputs and stronger long-term soil conservation.
